Details:
Damavand power plant is the main supplier of electricity used in Tehran. The power being produced by this plant is transferred thru power grid to Tehran. Damavand combined cycle power plant has the advantage of higher efficiency .By completion and start up of 12 gas turbines generators and 4 steam turbines generators, it is planned 2 more steam turbine generators to come on stream by the end of 2011.By reaching 50 percent of efficiency, this plant has gained the Maximum and highest efficiency between the installed plants in Iran. Gas turbine generators have normally approximately 33% and steam turbine generators 40% thermal efficiency.
Power generation capacity of Damavand combined cycle power plant would be 2868 Megawatts after completion of the project which will be the biggest power plant of this type in the Middle East region.
