Synchronization of the First Steam Unit of Toos (Ferdowsi) Combined Cycle Power Plant

 On September 17, 2020, the first steam unit of Toos (Ferdowsi) Combined Cycle Power Plant synchronized with the national electricity grid, despite the limitations caused by the corona outbreak. The steam unit development project of Toos Combined Cycle Power Plant, with an area of 60 hectares, located 25 km from Mashhad to Quchan road, consists of 3 steam turbine units, each with a capacity of 160 MW, which the first unit has been synchronized. By implementation of this project, the capacity of the Toos power plant will increase from 960 MW to 1440 MW. The project area includes six units of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG), three units of turbines, and type E steam generators with a nominal capacity of 160 MW each, three units of ACC cooling system, 400 kV AIS substation, EBOP, MBOP, CPP. Due to the supply of electricity required by Khorasan Razavi province and neighboring provinces, the implementation of this project is of great importance. Meanwhile, with the implementation of the steam section and completion of the combined cycle power plant, the efficiency of the power plant will increase from 33% to 56%, and fossil fuel energy will be saved and converted into electrical energy (electricity).

In this project, Monenco Iran provides Basic and Detail Design, 3D Modeling of the plant as follows:

  • Design of all buildings (Industrial and non-industrial) including architectural, structural, and foundation drawings and calculation notes
  • Design of all mechanical BOP system including firefighting of the plant, gas oil and natural gas system distribution, compressed air production and distribution systems, and auxiliary steam production and distribution system
  • Design of water distribution including (raw, potable, service and demined water)
  • Design of collecting wastewater including (sewage, oily, clean, chemical and surface drainage)
  • Design of HVAC and firefighting system of buildings
  • Design of electrical BOP system of the plant and buildings
  • Design of the main ACC cooling system
