Second Gas-fired Unit of West Karun Power Plant Synchronized to the Grid

The second gas-fired unit of West Karun Combined Cycle Power Plant was synchronized to the national grid on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.
For the first time, MAPNA Group has signed power purchase agreement (PPA) with an entity outside the Ministry of Power. Petroleum Engineering and Development Company has guaranteed to purchase the power generated by West Karun plant for a 20-year period and under a BOO (build-own-operate) scheme.
West Karun Power Plant is located in Dasht-e Azadegan County in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, West Karun Power Plant is dedicated to power supply for four oil fields which are active in the region.

With a nominal capacity of 520 MWs, the power plant consists of one combined cycle block of power that runs on MAP2A gas turbines, a triple-pressure steam cycle, an ACC cooling system, and a 230 kV power transmission line.

In this project, Monenco Iran was responsible to render engineering and design services of civil, BOP, ACC and 3D design.
