Creation of Cigre Working Group D2.49 was proposed by the Convenor

Creation of Cigre Working Group D2.49 was proposed by the Convenor; Mr. Siamak Khalaj acting as ICT & Dispatching Director of Monenco Iran also Chairman of Cigre Iran ICT Study Committee. The title of the working group is “Augmented reality / Virtual reality to support Operation and Maintenance in Electric Power Utilities” which is regarding to the most modern technologies.

It is worth mentioning that this is the first time Iran has taken action as Convenor in Cigre activities

The main purpose of creating this working group is to provide a methodology in order to deploy the AR/VR in EPU’s Operation and Maintenance. Condition monitoring tools, in conjunction with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) will help to prevent malfunctions and diagnose their cause. Also, AR/VR can be of great help in transferring the knowledge of asset operation and maintenance to new generations by registering the procedures in electronic devices. AR/VR can be experienced directly by using an image projector that projects virtual features over the real environment.
