Project importance:
The operation of Al Kamil power plant was started since 2002 in Oman. The construction of power plant is in direction of power industry privatization Oman. 100% of Al Kamil's power plant Shares belongs to "International Power" company. The construction of project has been done in cooperation with an Egyptian contractor and the generated electricity has been already sold to Oman ministry of electricity and water by a 15 years contract. Primary investment of the project was 100 million US dollars by bank loan (jointly by SG investment bank and Muscat bank of Oman) and 33 million US dollars in direct investment.
Al Kamil station is located in East of Oman and is one of 31 132/33kv substations in power network of country. Power sector of Oman is planned ,by developing its transmission and distribution network system to cover 2000 Megawatts future power demand . Al Kamil station has an important role to deliver required electrical energy to the eastern region of Oman. It is expected that its operation and connection to grid be in mid 2012.
Project description:
Al Kamil and Al Wafi 132/33 KV substation in 132kV GIS part includes 6 line feeder, two 132/33kV transformer feeder, one bus coupler, one bus section with double busbar arrangement. 132/33kV-125MVA Power transformers are two sets. 33 kV AIS part includes two individual 33kv busbar, each one with two incomings and eight outgoings; Out of eight outgoings, one is for 20MVAR capacitor banks. The control system of the substation is as Automation.
